And then they were three

We celebrated the twins third birthdays’ last week and it is sometimes hard to believe I have two toddlers, let alone now, two three year olds !

I scribbled this post the other night after their birthday party, I was a little emotional as I always get on their birthday. This is for B and A.

As I walked up the hallway just now, I pause at the glow which emanates from underneath your bedroom doors,

Soft snuffles call to me through closed doors, urging me to peek in and take one last look before I close my eyes,

My hand rests on the handle and applies pressure, gently so as not to disturb sleeping heads,

Rosy cheeks glow in the dusky light.

Three years old, in the blink of an eye,

And now glowing light fills rooms, rooms no longer empty but filled with life.

Three years of learnings, laughter and love,

New outlooks have formed , priorities have shifted

Lines fill my face, tiredness fills my being, my body has changed,

A body that carries three heartbeats for a lifetime and is thankful.

  1. Congratulations! You’ve survived three years of twin parenthood πŸ™‚
Glad to have found a fellow mother of toddler twins. Mine will turn three this September. It’s a joy to watch them grow.
