I wanted to make my own version of meat sung but only had beef mince in the fridge, however I love being in the kitchen and discovering something new from playing around with ingredients and have to say with this I have found a new recipe which will be added to the family favourites. It got a thumbs up all round!
I made a large batch ,enough to have with rice and steamed greens on the second night and it was just as delicious and a nice alternative recipe for minced meat.
Ingredients
1 400g pack of 5% lean beef mince
1 onion very finely diced
2 garlic cloves very finely diced
1 punnet of mushrooms very finely diced
1/2 red pepper very finely diced
1/2 yellow pepper very finely diced
Baby gem lettuce – there was enough in this recipe for 12 cups and leftovers for the following evening
Oyster sauce 1.5 tablespoon
Light soy sauce 1 tablespoon
Fish sauce 1 tablespoon
White wine vinegar 1.5 tablespoon
Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon
Ginger ( I used one strand from a jar of pre chopped ginger)
Chinese five spice a good shake 1 tablespoon approximately
Tumeric (1 teaspoon)
Knorr chicken stock pot mixed with 250ml water
Rapeseed oil or oil of choice
Method
Fry off your onion and mushrooms for a few minutes ,then add your chopped garlic, ginger and peppers. Add your mince after another minute and then add your chicken stock ,spices and all other liquid ingredients. Leave to cook until the mince is fully brown through, cooked and there is a minimal amount of liquid in the pan. This should take twenty minutes approximately on a medium heat.
Serve in the lettuce boats with a little egg fried rice on the side ,you can find the recipe for my healthy Chinese egg fried rice here.
That’s it, quick ,simple and really really delicious , I hope you enjoy xx
