Ingredients
400g of diced beef, or sirloin beef strips
cornflour
oyster sauce 3 to 4 tablespoons
dark soy sauce 3 tablespoons
sesame oil for cooking and for garnish before serving
sesame seeds
mushrooms chopped
One onion finely chopped
green beans
courgette chopped
One nest of noodles per two adults,
chicken stock pot 1 litre
beef stock pot 500ml
chinese five spice 2 teaspoons
garlic granules 1 teaspoon
onion powder 1 teaspoon
spring onions and sesame seeds to garnish
Method
In a wok or shallow casserole dish sear your beef on all sides with some sesame oil and when browned all over remove from the pan.
Now add your finely chopped onions and sweat for a few minutes.
At this stage you should cook your noodles for a few minutes in the chicken stock and when near cooked drain some of that water into your onions.
Steam your green vegetables of choice ( brocolli works really well here too but I had green beans and courgette to cook)
Next add your chopped mushrooms to the onions and the rest of your ingredients(except for the cornflour) and allow to mix.
Now add back in the beef and allow the meat and vegetables to simmer away .
A few minutes from serving add in the cornflour and allow the sauce to thicken up slightly.
Now add in your steamed greens and noodles, sprinkle over some more sesame oil and seeds and serve.
This is a firm family favourite and goes really well with chicken and prawns too
